Bomb Explosion: “Our Target Was President Buhari” — ISWAP Terrorists

The Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), formerly known as Jam’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihd, has claimed responsibility for a car bomb explosion that killed four people and injured several others in Kogi State’s Okene Local Government Area.

This was the group’s seventh attack in the state in the last eight months.

Last Thursday, an explosion shook a community in the local government area.

The explosion, which happened around 9.00 a.m., was said to have happened near Ado Ibrahim’s palace, the paramount ruler of Ebiraland.

The incident occurred about an hour before President Muhammadu Buhari was scheduled to arrive in the North-Central state to inaugurate some projects.

ISWAP in a statement on Monday said the attack was carried out by “soldiers of the caliphate.”

The terror group said a car bomb was used and its target was the President who was visiting the area.
