Israeli airstrikes kill two Syrian soldiers

Israeli airstrikes on Damascus International Airport overnight Sunday killed two Syrian soldiers and injured three others.

According to Syrian state media, a “barrage of missiles” was launched at 2 a.m. local time, causing the airport’s runways to close.

Arab News revealed that Israel allegedly launched airstrikes against targets near Damascus late last month.

It said the Israeli military did not respond to the reports, in keeping with its long-standing policy of not commenting on specific incidents.

However, it has previously admitted to carrying out hundreds of strikes against Iran-backed forces attempting to establish a foothold in Syria.
