Tinubu meets with G-5 governors in London

The camp of Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has reportedly reached an agreement with the members of the five aggrieved governors who are members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The governors are Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, and Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.

According to reports, the APC presidential candidate and the five governors met on Wednesday at the APC presidential candidate’s London residence.

“We have agreed to work together with the G-5; the agreement rhythm with our desire to forge together a government of national unity.

“When the history of this political epoch is written, the names of Wike, Ortom, Makinde, Ugwuanyi and Ikpeazu will be written in gold for the courageous decision to place national interest above all other considerations,” a source told Daily Trust.

He also said that the governors were to remain in PDP and work for the actualisation of Tinubu’s presidency which would come with “several offers and benefits” while the governors were free to still pursue their other political interests.

Another source close to a sitting governor confirmed the meeting but added that they were still fine-tuning the modalities of the alliance for the benefit of all parties.
