Kogi commissioner deletes tweets after claiming explosion was “mere transformer spark”

The Kogi State Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, has deleted a tweet in which he claimed that the explosion that rocked the palace of a prominent monarch in the state was caused by a “mere transformer spark.”

SaharaReporters previously reported that a bomb blast rocked the palace of Dr Ado Ibrahim, the paramount traditional ruler and Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, on Thursday morning, killing at least three people.

The explosion happened before President Muhammadu Buhari arrived in the state to inaugurate projects completed by Governor Yahaya Bello’s administration.

Reacting to the incident, the state information commissioner, Fanwo in a series of tweets, said it was a “mere transformer spark” that injured one person “contrary to the blatant lie that there was a bomb explosion that killed three people in Okene.”

He tweeted: “Contrary to the blatant lie that there was a bomb explosion that killed three people in Okene, I wish to debunk the falsehood here.

“It was a mere transformer spark which injured one person. Mr President is currently enjoying the hospitality of our people right there at Okene where he is commissioning life-touching projects, executed by Governor Yahaya Bello.

“Our people should ignore the rumour and savour the presence of our dear President. We are Kogi people. We are hospitable.”

However, Fanwo later deleted the tweets.
