APC demands the resignation of Okupe from Obi’s campaign

The All Progressives Congress presidential campaign council has demanded the resignation Dr. Doyin Okupe from the campaign team of the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Okupe was found guilty on Monday by an Abuja-based Federal High Court of violating the Money Laundering Act.

Following that, Okupe was given a two year prison term.

However, the presiding judge, Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu, offered a N500, 000 fine as an alternative to each of the 26 counts of charges, totaling N13 million, for which he was found guilty.

Okupe succeeded in paying the fine of N13 million before the deadline.

Speaking with The PUNCH, the director of media and publicity for the Tinubu-Shettima Campaign Council, Bayo Onanuga, mocked Okupe, saying he doesn’t deserve to continue occupying his office as DG of Obi’s campaign.

He said, “Okupe should resign from his post as DG of Obi’s campaign. He should do so honorably. The court has spoken. He should no longer be involved in the campaign.”
