Yuletide: FG Declares Public Holidays

The Federal Government has designated December 26th and 27th, as well as January 2nd, 2023, as public holidays to celebrate Christmas and the New Year.

The interior minister, Rauf Aregbesola, verified this on Friday in a statement signed by the permanent secretary of the ministry, Belgore Shuaib.

Aregbesola asked Christians to rejoice by imitating Jesus and reflecting on his teachings.

“We must imbibe the life of Jesus Christ in His practice and teachings on humility, service, compassion, patience, peace, and righteousness, that His birth signifies. This will be the best way to portray Christ and celebrate his birth,” he said.

He also called on them not to allow criminal-minded people to push them into creating anarchy in the country.

“This calls for deliberate responsibility and discipline on the part of all,” the former governor said, calling on them to “moderately celebrate the festival, avoid the spread of fake news, and be responsible. Take it as a point of duty to own your fatherland.”
