We can never be part of Biafra — Ebonyi State Governor, Umahi

The governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, stated yesterday that the state cannot be a part of Biafra due to the way in which agitators commit murder and violate the fundamental human rights of defenseless residents of the region.

Umahi made the remarks while speaking to shareholders and All Progressives Congress (APC) members at an elder/widows party hosted at the Ecumenical Centre in Abakaliki, the capital of the state.

He said that Simon Ekpa’s faction is terrorizing the South East and pledged to expel them, particularly as the general elections in 2023 draw near.

The governor declared that his state could not be a part of Biafra and bemoaned the ongoing deaths and destruction of lives and property in the area, noting that IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu was no longer in control of the situation.

“When this agitation for Biafra started, I told them that this matter would go beyond Kanu. And today, it has gone beyond Kanu. Every criminal says he is IPOB. Every criminal says he is with the Eastern Security Network (ESN).

“Now, we have another bandit called Simon Ekpa. Is this the Biafra we desire? To be killing ourselves and displacing others? That’s why we said, in the heat of that crisis, that Ebonyi can never be part of Biafra. We are not Biafra,” he said.
