Reps call for the relocation of FMC from Daura, Buhari’s hometown

The House of Representatives has requested, in the interest of the general public, that the Federal Ministry of Health transfer the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Daura, in Katsina State, which is the home town of President Muhammadu Buhari, to Funtua.

This motion was a follow-up to one made on Thursday during plenary by Babangida Ibrahim (APC, Katsina).

Mr. Ibrahim, who represents Malumfashi/Kurfi Federal Constituency, said in his motion, that Daura already has the Nigerian Air Force Reference Hospital, “a world-class hospital,” that was established in 2019.

He argued that the establishment of another federal medical hospital in Daura will not adequately serve the people of Katsina State, adding that the Funtua Senatorial District has no single medical facility.

Consequently, the lawmakers resolved that the Committees on Healthcare Services and Legislative Compliance should ensure compliance with the resolution.
