FG Orders the Opening of Second Niger Bridge

The Second Niger Bridge will be open for usage beginning at midnight on Thursday, per an order from the Federal Government.

This was announced on Wednesday by the Minister of Works, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, SAN, during the inauguration of the bridge, which would be open for usage for one month during the Yuletide.

Fashola urged everyone using the bridge to drive cautiously and sensibly to avoid undermining the project’s intended usage.

The minister emphasized that Major General Muhammadu Buhari’s (ret.) goal in building the bridge was to prevent deaths and reduce poverty brought on by the loss of many hours due to gridlock on the previous First Niger Bridge.

He pointed out that the Second Niger Bridge’s inauguration will ease the pain of the driving public, which typically faces congestion during the holidays.

He clarified that some of the cash utilized to build the bridge were stolen funds that were mostly retrieved from the United States of America and stated that the bridge will be formally inaugurated from January 15, 2023, through December 15, 2022, at 12:01 a.m.
