Fire outbreak at Defence Headquarters

There has been a fire incident at the Abuja Defence Headquarters today.

The blaze, whose origin is unknown, is alleged to have broken out from the DHQ’s second floor.

It was learned that both military soldiers and members of the Federal Fire Service helped put out the fire.

The Director of Defense Information, Major General Jimmy Akpor, verified the occurrence.

He stated that all staff members had been evacuated and that the fire had been put out.

“A minor fire incident occurred on the second floor of the Defence Headquarters, Garki Abuja, this afternoon, December 12, 2022. The cause of the fire outbreak is unknown at this moment.

“However, the incident has been brought under control with the combined effort of the military and Federal Fire Service personnel and resources. All personnel and civilian staff were also evacuated without injury or loss of life.

“Accordingly, normalcy has returned. The investigation to determine the cause of the fire commenced immediately.

“We thank the Federal Fire Service and the entire public for the continued support and goodwill shown to the Armed Forces of Nigeria,” he said.
